And we mean it: you will be able to see Explore the North projects (with a bigger program than ever!) from June 13-22 during Oerol 2025. Scattered all over the island, we will introduce you to brand new performances and even performances in the making: a literary audio walk, a radio play, a wacky and hilarious quest for inspiration– it will all be there– in both Dutch and English, as well as in Frisian and Farsi.

Tickets for Oerol go on sale May 23 via oerol.nl. The entire program will be available on oerol.nl beginning May 13.

About the Explore the North program on the island

In GEESTEN, the Poezieboys and Joost Oomen go in search of “the spirit” – and they do so in their signature wacky and hilarious play style, full of frollicky leaps of thought, music, and unexpected twists.

Sanam Tahmasebi, Roshanak Morrowatian and Explore the North will present a preview of Beyond the Triangle: A multidisciplinary work full of dance, music and poetry built around recorded voices of female Iranian poets. 

In the small, most cozy West End Theater, you will see programs by ZEA, Nicole van den Berg, Drie Dagen Fris & Mona Thijs, Zindzi Tillot Owusu, Charlotte Westra, and Jaimy Hindriks.

Four of the Jonge Schrijvers collected stories on Terschelling prior to Oerol. During the literary audio walk Woorden in de wind, they will take you from the festival center to the beach to let you into how they experienced the surroundings (before all the commotion of Oerol).

Finally, rapper and multi-talent Alexander Moto will be bringing raw, reflective hip-hop in Frisian and Dutch to festival center deDeining on June 21 and 22.
