From 13 to 22 June, Oerol 2025 will showcase an extraordinary series of Explore the North projects across the island. You’ll encounter brand-new performances as well as works-in-progress: from a literary audio walk and a radio play to a wild and hilarious search for inspiration. The programme features Dutch, English, Frisian, and Farsi languages.
The full programme will be available from 13 May on oerol.nl. Tickets go on sale 23 May via the same website.
Highlights from the island programme
De Poezieboys and Joost Oomen go in search of ‘the spirit’ in their signature madcap, humorous style. This piece called GEESTEN is full of joyful leaps of thought, music, and unexpected turns.
Sanam Tahmasebi, Roshanak Morrowatian, and Explore the North present Beyond the Triangle (preview) – a multidisciplinary performance with dance, music, and poetry, built around recorded voices of Iranian female poets.
At the cosy West-End Theatre, enjoy performances by ZEA, Nicole van den Berg, Drie Dagen Fris & Mona Thijs, Zindzi Tillot Owusu, Charlotte Westra & Jaimy Hindriks.
In Woorden in de Wind, four Young Writers (Jonge Schrijvers) lead you on a literary audio walk from the heart of the festival to the beach, sharing stories gathered on Terschelling before the Oerol bustle began.
Finally, rapper and multi-talent Alexander Moto brings raw, reflective hip-hop in both Frisian and Dutch to festival hub de Deining, performing on 21 and 22 June.
