Protest Songs by Jonge Schrijvers (Young Writers)
Is it a concert? A song program? A musical theater performance? A poetic indie non-opera? One thing is certain: this new project by the Young Writers cannot be defined in just one word. Four young writers, aged 15 to 18, have each created a series of protest songs. They put into words the things that make them angry, scared, or eager for change.
Songs about the right to be who you are. About a boy whose life spirals out of control because he has no home of his own. About a woman who wants to be a man for just one day. About racism and how it affects young lives. And much more.
Their words take on a powerful musical form, performed by a four-piece professional band. A raw, honest, and gripping production in which the voices of young protest ring loud and clear!
