De Aanzet

De Aanzet brings together four writers from Drenthe, Groningen, and Friesland who are ready for the next step in their writing careers. For one year, they work on their own project and develop their literary network. The first participants are Hannes Schievink, Lieke van den Krommenacker, Liene Schipper, and Laura Mijnders.

The Programme

Over the course of a year, participants follow an intensive program of creative development and exchange. Residency weekends provide space for focus, peer reviews offer sharp insights from fellow writers, and personal guidance supports both artistic and professional questions. In addition, participants have multiple opportunities to present their work at festivals such as Explore the North, Zomerzinnen, and Het Grote Gebeuren.

Each writer receives €12,500 to realize their plans. Whether that is a poetry collection, a novel, a performance, a script, or a podcast, De Aanzet supports creators in making what they want to make.

Network and Connections

In addition to their own project, participants develop their place in the literary field. Bi-monthly peer reviews lead to valuable conversations with fellow creators. Connections with Explore the North, Stichting Literaire Activiteiten in Drenthe, and NOORDWOORD open doors to a broader regional and national network.

De Aanzet was created through a collaboration between Explore the North (Friesland), Stichting Literaire Activiteiten in Drenthe, and NOORDWOORD (Groningen), and is funded by We the North.
