The characteristic sound of a building
Every building has its own sounds, tones, and timbres; its unique sonic identity. Sound artists Bouke Groen makes unique musical compositions in spaces of tonal buildings with his Project Overtone.
Project Overtone, together with sound artist Bouke Groen, offers an intimate experience this summer in Zeeland to discover the Axels Water tower. With the help of acoustic measurements, Bouke mapped out the whole sonic landscape of the Water tower. The results of those measurements formed the basis for a unique composition written by Celia Swart. This will be sung a capella by a choir that moves throughout the building with you — the visitor. You will hear music written for that exact location and you, as a visitor, become part of the performance.
This project was previously carried out for the Stadshuis in Leeuwarden and Het Provinciehuis in Groningen.
