It’s all going to be allright

Experimental, punk, multilingual, the ultimate in DIY (think: a 2-string bass! think: bizarre flute-like electronics!) – and above all, completely authentic – a band like Wild Classical Music Ensemble doesn’t come around often. If only because the Belgian collective is in high demand. The band has collaborated with punk legend Lee Ranaldo (co-founder of Sonic Youth) and is touring this year from London to Prague with their album Confined, a record full of tracks created in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and now brought together – colorful and unfiltered.

Wild Classical Music Ensemble first emerged in 2007, originally from an experimental music workshop by the Kortrijk-based initiative Wit.h, which aims to make the art world more accessible for crip artists – a proudly reclaimed term for anyone who deviates from the norm due to a disability. It’s not yet a widely known term in the Netherlands, but WCME is bound to change that with their brutally honest punk songs and lyrics that are as defiant as they are disarming.

Favorite track: Tout va bien se passer (It’s all going to be okay!)
