Join the analogue side (we have fancy papier)

Are you in danger of debuting with your memoirs due to lack of focus? Join us at the Typewriters Café on Friday 24 January! Type undisturbed on the most beautiful, strangest and most ingenious typewriters of yesteryear. We provide all the supplies. Think of nice thick paper, Pritt correction tape and pep talks. And of course work vitamins, because as on all Fridays, there will be a delicious lunch from our top chef Alusein available.

The typewriters at the Typewriters Café have been curated and polished by writer and walking encyclopedia Preston Losack. There are real gems among them. Think of a rare Alpina 24 from 1963 or an Olivetti Studio with an HCESAR keyboard. Fun fact: Preston has given all the machines a name (from The Boss to Clara no. 79) and provided them with an accompanying text about their origin.

Come along and finally get going with your short story / that difficult chapter of your debut novel / that miserable essay / that long letter to your grandma. You can’t change every word 10,000 times on a typewriter. Those Pritt correction tapes are finite – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need as a writer. Bye-bye inner critic, hello pitter patter of a typewriters chatter!

Do you have something you want to recite yourself? For example, something you made during the day on those handy computers that print directly, also known as typewriters? Grab the open mic!
