Fermentation and Stories
Have you always wanted to know how to make a sourdough starter, or what kombucha actually is? Come to the food workshops at the Folkscafé. This edition focuses on the culture and culinary traditions of Ukraine. While the jars are bubbling away, there’s plenty of opportunity to talk about food, soil, grain, resilience, and whatever else comes to the table.
The Folkscafé is part of the Great Folks Festival. After the workshops, the Folks Kitchen: Ukraine begins, where host Sophia Kostiuchyk and chef Viktoriia Tkach share more about Ukraine’s culture, cuisine, music, and poetry during dinner.
About the Stadshart
From November 5 to 23, Podium Explore transforms into the Stadshart. Every afternoon, a different local scene or community hosts a DIY session under the name Studio Stadshart. One day you can solder guitar pedals, the next you’ll learn how to make your own sourdough starter. And in the evening, unwind with bands, talks, and performances!
*All Stadshart programs are free to attend, with the exception of Dood Paard – 3 x from Moscow + 🖤.
Is there food?
Yes. Pop-up restaurant De Voedselbar serves lunch, dinner, and all-day snacks. The Stadshart is basically your favorite café, just one where there’s always something cool to do or see. It’s also the perfect place to connect with creative scenes, neighbors, friends, and communities from the region. Open daily from 12:00 to 00:00!
