Sanamika & Explore the North - Beyond the Triangle (sneak preview)

The road from incarceration to celebrating freedom

Beyond the Triangle is a multidisciplinary performance inspired by the Iranian Women’s Liberation movement. This performance (still in development) explores the complexity of freedom and immeasurable human resilience in the face of oppression. Through live music, dance and poetry, Sanamika paints a physical portrait of what liberation can mean in all its glory. Original compositions, a blending of Persian musical traditions with contemporary elements, improvisation, and electronics are interwoven with a dancer’s movements.

Beyond the Triangle tells the story from prison to celebrating freedom through the words of women poets, reflecting their struggles for self-expression and social change across generations.

Their voices awaken a yearning for freedom that can be found deep within all of us.

This sneak preview performance at Explore the North Festival 2024 offers an opportunity to experience the first phase of the project as the artists experiment and push the boundaries of their artistic expression. A sneak preview of this Explore the North production can also be seen at Festival Jonge Harten in Groningen, but on Friday, Nov. 22.
