Literary deep-dive into Taylor Swift

We often hear that banks are too big to fail. But what about people? What if a pop star is so big that she can influence the US presidential election? Should this power be used? And do we have any responsibilities after we make someone great? And what about Taylor Swift, undeniably the biggest star right now?

The first award Taylor Swift ever won was for a poem called “The Monster in My Closet.” Monsters? What monsters? Is it about white feminism? Or pollution from private jets?  When does she speak out, and when is she silent? To what extent does she dare to “canvas”–and where does it end? We have questions!

The Taylor Swift adoration and worship surely hasn’t peaked yet, but by now her persona has reached prophetic proportions. With poets, writers and spoken word artists, swifties and non-swifties, Mensen Zeggen Dingen looks at Taylor Swift this festival season. From positions of power to god complexes and vulnerability to parasocial relationships: a Love Story? Or will there be Karma and Bad Blood?

The program is presented by Teddy Tops and Hendrick de Pecker. The writers and poets joining are: Dean Bowen, Yentl van Stokkum, Sophia Blyden, Martin Rombouts and Cheyenne Toney.
