Phase Shifter invites you to drift away through light, colour, sound and movement
During LUNA Nights Leeuwarden, the annual light festival that lights up the city every winter, Leeuwarden transforms into a stage for innovative light art. This year, we are presenting a special immersive installation that blurs the boundaries between art, technology, and experience. You can enjoy something warm at the koek-en-zopie stand during the winter evening.
Squidsoup
The internationally renowned collective Squidsoup are pioneers in combining light, sound and technology. During LUNA 2025, they were already present at Wilhelminaplein with one of their most well-known works: Submergence, a stunning curtain of light. The collective now returns to Leeuwarden with the immersive installation Phase Shifter, inviting you to drift away through light, colour, sound and movement.
As you experience the work and allow yourself to be carried along by the flowing and swirling forms of the specially developed, Wi-Fi-controlled audiovisual spheres, you gradually lose your sense of orientation. Light, sound and movement seduce your senses, draw you into a trance and detach you from the space you are in.
The British collective Squidsoup (Anthony Rowe, Liam Birtles, Hannah Brady & Dan Pearson) combines physical and digital spaces with new and intuitive forms of interaction, creating enchanting environments. Since 1997, millions of people worldwide have experienced their work in galleries, museums, festivals and exhibitions.
