Joost Oomen and Kruidkoek are done with seated audiences. And honestly, that makes perfect sense. The songs they create are made to dance to. Normally, of course, that’s not the idea with poetry, but with these guys it absolutely is!
In 2017, Kruidkoek and Joost created the musical poetry show Vruchtjes Eten. They premiered it with us at Explore the North, after which 3voor12 wrote: “In a way, it most resembles a derailed children’s TV show, with Joost, a sort of Willy Wonka, orchestrating all his underlings into poetic chaos.” What followed was a tour through nearly every Dutch theatre, performances at Oerol, Noorderzon, De Parade and Lowlands, two additional shows (Tuut tuut kwantumschuim and Liefde in tijden van hopjesvla), and above all an enormous reservoir of new songs.
The best of those songs have now been brought together in a show where you can keep moving endlessly. So do a few squats to warm up, eat a banana or take a little lick, and hurl yourself into the whirlwind, a show your Dutch teacher would even give you a thumbs-up for.
At Explore the North Festival, an early preview of this show could already be seen, and many visitors called it a festival highlight. So the fact that the show at ESNS 2026 will be a party is guaranteed!
