An ode to the peculiar human
During her eighth-grade school musical, poet and self-proclaimed “peculiar woman” Jaimy Hindriks wore her sweater inside out and backwards — and forgot her lines. These days, life still feels inside out and backwards, but she has since taken control of her own words.
The poetic performance Een augurk reist met de trein (A Pickle Travels by Train) is a search for connection, for finding beauty in being a bit of a fool. It’s an ode to the peculiar human being and an exploration of our tendency to want to understand life — while it’s precisely the incomprehensible that makes it beautiful.
