Estonian summer evening full of stories, food, and encounters

Anna Lillioja, a writer and journalist living in Leeuwarden, has written for various Dutch travel magazines—such as National Geographic Traveler—about her homeland, Estonia. On August 7th, she will host this edition of Folkskeuken and take you on a journey back to her roots. Through stories, summery dishes, music, and dance, you’ll be transported to a balmy summer evening in Estonia.

How do people come together after enduring the long, dark winter? Around which traditions and customs do they gather? And can we finally settle the eternal Estonian debate tonight: what really belongs in a proper potato salad?

This evening program also includes a workshop in Estonian folk dancing (participation is optional). Tickets cost €3.50 and include food.

Folkscafé meet-ups and Folkskeuken are produced by Explore the North in collaboration with Sedrana. The project is supported by the Cultuurfonds and Over de drempel from Arcadia.

This edition is part of the EETVERHALEN series, organized as part of Arcadia.
The event takes place at De Keuken in Bouwurk, located on the Oldehoofsterkerkhof in Leeuwarden, Fryslân.
