Sanam Tahmasebi, Roshanak Morrowatian & Explore the North - Beyond the Triangle (preview)

Tickets go on sale at May 13 via Oerol.nl

Beyond the Triangle is a multidisciplinary performance combining music, dance, poetry, and visual art. Inspired by the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran, the piece is rooted in a deep longing for freedom—both personal and collective. The performance unfolds as a ritual of remembrance.

At the heart of Beyond the Triangle are the recorded voices of Iranian women poets from different generations. Their presence resonates through a layered composition of vocals, percussion, cello, electronic textures, field recordings, and choreography. Poetry becomes sound. Sound becomes movement. Movement becomes memory. Beyond the Triangle does not follow a linear narrative but reveals moments. How can beauty arise from cruelty? And how does creativity make space for resistance?

A try-out version of Beyond the Triangle was presented at Explore the North Festival 2024 and Festival Jonge Harten in Groningen. This performance is part of the Explore the North Hub. From 13 to 22 June, Explore the North presents work across the island by talents connected to its production house. Explore the North is both a production house and festival, based at Podium Explore in Leeuwarden.

A first version could be seen at Explore the North Festival 2024, Festival Jonge Harten in Groningen and now this preview can be seen at Oerol Terschelling 2025!
