Biology, craft, art and – well – death
*Children’s programme
Viewing dead animals as a family activity. Is that allowed? Yes, it is allowed. On Saturday, November 16th, our neighbors at Natuurmuseum Fryslân are moving a colorful collection of stuffed animals to the Stadskas. A nice contrast, if we do say so ourselves: in full light – in the kind of place where things normally germinate, grow and bloom – we will celebrate the beauty you find at the intersection of biology, craft, art and death.
The Natuurmuseum challenges visitors of all ages to look intently at the stuffed animals – their postures, shapes, textures – and recreate the animal as accurately (or creatively) as possible. Taxidermist Anne Paul will be there to introduce visitors to her fascinating craft – live. See with your own eyes how an animal is given a new appearance bit by bit and, above all, ask all your pressing questions!
