‘Go ahead and look, you can do that now. You can do that here. It’s really no problem.’
In his production, ZONDERZEEËR, Sander Deckx confronts you with our society’s limited view of people with disabilities—from his wheelchair. How do you deal with the fanfare that follows you all the time? How does the other person’s gaze affect you? And what is the difference between being watched and being seen? The playwright wonders if blending into the crowd is even possible for those who don’t look like the crowd—and if that is necessary or desirable. Sander welcomes you into his life and the things that make him invisible.
