On the occasion of the release of his new novel, Alles voor de reis, Adriaan van Dis will engage in a live conversation with Simon Dikker Hupkes in a special Van Dis Ongefilterd performance.
In the popular podcast Van Dis Ongefilterd, Adriaan van Dis speaks every two weeks with editor Simon Dikker Hupkes from the authors’ room at Uitgeverij Atlas Contact about everything on his mind. After more than 50 episodes, which have already been listened to over 2 million times, Adriaan and Simon are now taking their show on the road with a special theatre tour in which they will speak openly and unfiltered about the new novel Alles voor de reis.
An incurably ill woman chooses a hospice because there she can also receive her lover. In a hospital bed, with morphine patches and a forbidden glass of wine from a teacup. In the weeks she has left, she asks him to take her on a journey. The two of them take flight in their imagination, experiencing wondrous literary adventures and finding support from writers. But they also explore each other—their differences, similarities, lies, betrayals, and the wounds that shaped them. Alles voor de reis is a moving novel about a great love.
During the theatre performance based on Adriaan’s most personal book to date, this leads to a conversation about poetry, infidelity, truth and lies, but above all about a profound love for an unforgettable woman.
