Masters of Hardcore? No! Masters of HardKoor! For the project Schaafsessies this year, we had various word-artists collaborate with major hardcore scene icon and born-and-raised Leeuwarder Sietse van Daalen (aka Da Mouth of Madness). This MC with an impressive hardcore past created a piece of explosive magic together with Frisian word artists Jaimy Hindriks, Douwe Dijkstra, Lil Pier, and Bram Zielma — along with a choir and the producers SVENB, DJ The Enforcer, and MESSI4H.
Under the chandelier of Zalen Schaaf—the second-oldest theater in the Netherlands, and formerly part of the Explore the North Festival—they performed their Frisian-language, pumping performances. The pumping end result speaks for itself! Watch the four videos of the tracks below.
Schaaf Sessions is a multidisciplinary project in which word artists are challenged to write and perform in Frisian. At the same time, we are searching for musical combinations that push and break boundaries.
This project grew out of the former Dichter Bij Leeuwarden and is supported by Explore the North and the Province of Fryslân.

Met een carrière van meer dan 25 jaar is Da Mouth of Madness een icoon binnen de hardcore-scene. Als een van de eerste MC’s in hardcore werkte hij samen met grote namen zoals Waxweazle, Partyraiser en Dr. Peacock. Hij schitterde op legendarische evenementen als Thunderdome, Defqon.1 en Tomorrowland. Naast MC’en is hij mentor voor jong talent en een ambassadeur voor hardcore. Zijn passie voor de muziek en interactie met publiek maken hem uniek: een ware stem van hardcore.
