Folkscafé: Folksverhalen

Podium Explore gratis

During the Folksverhalenmiddag, visitors will be taken on a trip around the world, from Iran, to Mexico and Brazil. Three speakers tell a story in their own language. The stories consist of folk tales that have been passed on from generation to generation. A written translation is available in Dutch and English. The speakers are:

Brazil (Stella Arnt rosa), Mexico (Sarai Escamilla Guadarrama) and Iran (Negar Jalalifar).

The Folksverhalenmiddag is part of the of the Folkscafé Meetups. The Folkscafé meetups focus on meeting and connecting. Meeting and connecting with people of your own culture, making you feel at home far from home. But also meeting and connecting with people from other cultures, each with a unique story that broadens your view of the world.

In addition to the Folksverhalen, you can also play games from around the world with the people of Sedrana. From ‘aggravate yourself’ to a Syrian version of butter-cheese-and-eggs – discover each other’s culture through play!

Folkscafé meet-ups and Folkskeuken are created by Explore the North in collaboration with Sedrana. The project is supported by Cultuurfonds and Over de drempel by Arcadia.

Folkscafé meet-ups
The Folkscafé meet-ups focus on meeting and connecting. Meeting and connecting with people of your own culture, making you feel at home far from home. But also meeting and connecting with people from other cultures, each with a unique story that broadens your view of the world. Each meet-up focuses on a theme. Think games, creativity, poems or music. But also stories from the past and the present, where people may share their (personal) story, we engage in conversation and search for that which connects us. It is a place where you can make contacts in an approachable and unforced way, be curious and maybe even make new friendships.
