Four young writers. One island before the festival buzz. What stories did they gather in the silence? What words did they hear in the wind?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this literary audio walk<\/strong>, four young writers guide you from the heart of the festival to the beach. Along the way, they share how they experienced the island before<\/em> Oerol\u2019s excitement. What did they see in the calm? How many stories did they find in the quiet? What words did they hear in the wind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are a young writer, and you are on an island. There is no festival. It\u2019s not summer vacation either. You’re standing in the loose sand, looking around\u2014aside from the wind and the gulls, it\u2019s silent. Not a soul in sight. You climb to the top of a dune and gaze out. Large grey clouds race through the sky like young wolfhounds. Your hair turns coarse, your nose runs with salt. This is what it\u2019s like here. This is the island as it truly is<\/em>. A grain of sand in the North Sea. A grain of sand in your mind. Island, horizon, sea. Take me with you, and I\u2019ll write you down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonge Schrijvers<\/strong>\u00a0is a writing program for youth in Friesland, organized by\u00a0Explore the North<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Meeuw jonge theatermakers<\/strong>. Prose, poetry, theatre, songs, film scripts\u2014everything is covered in the writing lessons. Each year, the Young Writers appear at\u00a0Oerol<\/strong>, creating new work especially for the festival, inspired by the island and\/or its inhabitants. This year, that takes the form of a\u00a0literary audio walk<\/strong>\u00a0featuring:\u00a0David Bisschop, Tamar Dicke, Bastiaan Okkema<\/strong>, and\u00a0Rixt Siderius<\/strong>\u2014a collaboration between\u00a0Explore the North<\/strong>,\u00a0Meeuw jonge theatermakers<\/strong>, and\u00a0Oerol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
