A two-minute-forty-four-second snare drum drone that sounds like a wave slowly creeping up the beach. The dark bass drum heartbeat of the earth beneath it. The ominous lira melody that falls into the village like drops of water through a concrete layer of clouds. The voice that walks through the streets and calls them out by name, one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Filmmaker Ester Eva Damen<\/a> picked up the song Makkum by Zea, held it up to the light, and from that came the video clip below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As the water flows through the streets of the Frisian coastal town of Makkum, Damen lets the drum shine in the sun.
