Babs Gons ( Poet Laureate of the Netherlands) and Marrit Jellema, (City Poet of Leeuwarden) will hold a poetry and spoken word day on April 4, 2025. This festive day kicks off with breakfast. Babs Gons will give a lecture on Spoken Word, because \u201cwhat exactly is that? and where does it come from?\u201d is something I hear a lot&#8211;and who better to break it down than the queen of the spoken word scene in the Netherlands?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In between there will be all the pancakes you can eat, and Babs and I will perform between pancakes and the lecture to wake you up. Babs and I both have the mission to introduce as many people as possible to Spoken Word and poetry in general, and this breakfast is a very nice (and tasty!) way to achieve that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PS: after breakfast, you can join us at the market where Babs and Marrit will continue the poetry celebration. From 12 to 14:00, they will be at the market (in front of the Fries Museum) reciting poetry of their own and from other poets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will bring poems for you to choose from, but do you have a favorite poem or one of your own (preferably one you know by heart)?
