Mental distress rarely exists \u201cjust in your head.\u201d How do you move between the personal and the political, between taking up space and making space, between performing and being gentle with yourself, between the worldly and your own worries?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to neurobiologist\u00a0Brankele Frank, writer and program maker\u00a0Sandy Bosmans, and spoken word artist\u00a0Halima Ikane, it\u2019s time for a meaningful exchange\u2014about mental boundaries, purpose, and a society full of heavy minds. In this poetic talk, the three writers explore questions such as: What secrets does a burned-out brain hold? What happens when you are reduced to a number, a birthplace, or a surname? What do the climate and parenthood have in common? Where do\u00a0<em>you<\/em>\u00a0end, and where does the world begin?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the participating makers<\/strong><br>Brankele Frank\u00a0reached her psychological limit, wrote a book about it\u2014and got another burnout from that. She studied neurobiology in Amsterdam, London, and Paris, and has written for\u00a0<em>Hard\/\/hoofd<\/em>,\u00a0<em>nrc.next<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Vrij Nederland<\/em>. Her book\u00a0<em>Over de kop<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Upside Down<\/em>) was published by Das Mag in 2023. Brankele is a columnist for\u00a0<em>Het Financieele Dagblad<\/em>and host of the podcast\u00a0<em>Let\u2019s Go Mental<\/em> and the winner of the most recent run of the dutch tv-show De Slimste Mens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halima Ikane&nbsp;is a student of Psychology and Education, a daughter, and a fellow human being. With her spoken word performances, she has appeared on stages such as&nbsp;<em>Poetry International<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Mensen Zeggen Dingen<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>We The People<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Tell \u2019Em<\/em>, and the&nbsp;<em>Arab Film Festival<\/em>. Recently, she won the&nbsp;Talent Award&nbsp;at the&nbsp;Spoken Awards 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandy Bosmans&nbsp;is a spoken word artist, writer, and program maker. She has performed at&nbsp;<em>De Nieuwe Liefde<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Mensen Zeggen Dingen<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Woorden Worden Zinnen<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Paginagroots<\/em>. As a poetry slammer, she reached the semifinals of the Dutch Championships in 2016.
