More about these new names!
De Seizoenen with Ester Naomi Perquin, Max Temmerman and Marie François is an adventurous, contemporary annual cycle in which music, poetry, illustration and performance merge into one 360° art experience. They bring back the iconic piano cycle by the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who composed a piece of music for every month, and give it a poetic breath. In Sanam Tahmasebi – Light Has Teeth vocalist and composer Sanam Tahmasebi and dancer Roshanak Morrowatian move through a dream ritual in which voice, hair, sound and live-projected image keep changing function. Brik Tu-Tok parades shamelessly down the catwalk of life, wrapped in mysterious smoke and hysterical neon glitter outfits.
MAYA MARIA, as a contemporary siren, knows how to hypnotise her audience and lure them into other worlds; as a multidisciplinary maker and art director she creates spaces where anything is possible with seductive avant-garde art pop and alt-R&B. In De Literaire Kerkdienst with Laurin Nargy, Sarah de Koning, Bob Vanden Broeck and Paul van Dijkthey believe in poetry, in the word. In De Grote Kerk these writers therefore hold a literary church service for all (non-)believers seeking comfort, who would rather live on another planet than on this blue rock, or who now finally want to mend their ways. In Vind het licht you make, in select company, a journey through the crypts of an enormous church, in search of the holy delegates of poetry.
N I T E F I S H rises up in resistance and sucks up all the attention from that cursed phone in your hand, with a filthy, sweaty mix of gabber, trance, punk rap and drum & bass. Karla da Silva is the uncrowned queen of contemporary samba, the kind that gets even the stiffest Dutch hips loosening up with pleasure. Her music is an invitation to dance across the bridge between Afro-Brazilian musical heritage and the powerful woman she has become over the course of her career. Housepainters bring an intriguing musical colour palette that is both dark and danceable. J.M. Baccus craves immortality and, like a true philosopher, puts his listeners to the test with his meandering poetic lyrics, supported by wisdom going back to the ancient Greeks. Finally, in the theatre performance Rinske Bouwman – De Mismis you are a guest at a digital club party and dance among the tigers!
