Protest songs by The Young Writers
Is it a concert? A song program? A musical theater performance? A poetic indie non- opera? To be sure: this new project by the Jonge Schrijvers cannot be captured in one word. Four young writers between the ages of 15 and 18 each made several protest songs. They put words to things that anger them, scare them or that they want to change: About the right to be who you are; about a boy’s life being completely derailed because he doesn’t have his own home; about a woman who wants to be a man for just one day; about racism and what that does to a young life–and much more.

Their words are given powerful musical form, performed by a four-member professional band. It’s a raw, honest and compelling production where the young, protesting voice rings loud and clear!
