Eight young writers capture the essence of Terschelling in words and take you to places you thought you knew, but have never experienced quite like this before.
In March, eight emerging writing talents travelled to Terschelling, where they allowed themselves to be moved by three remarkable locations on the island. Those impressions became the foundation for new poetic texts. Let yourself be carried away by their readings and experience the island as they encountered it this spring.
Sara-Linn Bouwman, David Gil Bisschop, Bastiaan Okkema, Rowan Vis, Sinne Nova van Dieren, Juul Plomp, Levi Vermeulen, and Aleit Palsma: eight voices, eight ways of looking at the same island. They wandered through the dunes, cycled along deserted paths, and paused where land and sea meet. What they found there was transformed into poetic texts that make Terschelling tangible. Familiar places take on new meaning, and small moments become monumental. The result is a layered portrait of the island: raw, quiet, and full of imagination.
This project emerges from the Young Writers educational trajectory of Meeuw jonge theatermakers and Explore the North, and is created in collaboration with Oerol Festival.
