A Surging Rave for Body and Soul
Get ready for a brand-new immersive experience from Club Guy & Roni, Boris Acket and HIIIT. In The Current, you become part of an alternative reality where dance, live percussion, and electronic music blend together effortlessly. In this universe suspended somewhere between club night and exhibition space, audience and performers move freely — and collectively — through Acket’s pulsating landscape. NITE actor and singer Sarah Janneh— known from, among others, Wie is de Mol? and named acting talent of 2025 by de Volkskrant — interprets texts by South African author Ronelda S. Kamfer.
On top of that, this all-encompassing rave pulls you into an intense sonic layer of live percussion and electronic music by producer Max Frimout and Stanislav Tolkachev. The result is an experience in which individuality and collective movement remain in constant tension with one another.
Inspired by rave culture, the performance explores collectivity, freedom, and the question: do we move with the current, or resist it?
About the makers
Club Guy & Roni was founded in 2002 by choreographers Guy Weizman and Roni Haver. The company creates contemporary, explosive, and interdisciplinary dance theatre that engages sharply with current affairs. Hallmarks of their work include striking performers, a highly physical movement language, and newly composed live music, with musicians often taking on visible roles on stage. Their productions tour internationally and are presented both with the company’s own ensemble and in collaboration with local artists.
Boris Acket
Boris Acket is a contemporary artist and composer working with sound, light, and movement. His work explores the interplay between control and surrender within the natural world. Drawing from a background in electronic music and club culture, his practice has evolved toward pushing the boundaries between sound art, music, and performative space, often blurring the line between exhibition and club experience.
Sarah Janneh
Actor and singer Sarah Janneh (1994) began her studies at the music conservatory in Tilburg and was accepted into the Amsterdam Theatre School in 2012, graduating in 2016. Since 2022, she has been a permanent ensemble member of NITE + Club Guy & Roni.
She appeared in the NITE production Before/After and in the performances Witch Hunt, Exit Macbeth, and Yara’s Wedding. In 2024, Sarah appears in Ocean Breeze, followed by Nachtwacht in 2025. Alongside her theatre work, she regularly appears in film and television productions such as Het Klokhuis, Anne+, Soof 3, and Tropenjaren. In 2023, Sarah participated as a contestant in Wie is de Mol?. At the end of 2024, de Volkskrant named her acting talent of 2025, recognising her transition from supporting roles to leading parts — what the newspaper described as “the real work.”
