@

The most unfindable Folk-Pop duo of all time (So far)

Online exposure is the go-to advice for every aspiring musician. But the idiosyncratic folk duo @ (pronounced “At”), made up of songwriters Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, have chosen to swim against the tide, proving there’s another way. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these fiercely independent musicians found each other across both physical and technological barriers, forging a close creative partnership fueled by playful mischief. At one point, an ’80s microphone balanced on a coffee mug served as their recording setup, resulting in a surprisingly rich and raw sound.

Their debut album went on to reach an unexpectedly large audience through the hidden corners of the internet. A remarkable achievement considering their effective anti-search-engine band name. Thanks to their infectious vocal harmonies, however, @’s psychedelic folk has become impossible to ignore. Their new album arrives mid-October on the label 4AD, home to artists including Big Thief, and the first single, “Autosmile,” already hints at what’s to come. Let loose and dance along to the psychedelic folk of this enigmatic duo from Philadelphia.
